The Farm

Boom Rock Farm is located in Ohariu Valley and although it's just 10 minutes from Johnsonville it seems a world away from the city.

With 25 acres of fully fenced farmland to explore, your dog can enjoy a day off leash, soaking up the sights and sounds of the countryside.

Our fences are constructed from cattle-grade mesh and are 1.7m high around the entire property.

Your dog will spend the day exploring the farm and playing in a group with an experienced dog handler. Our maximum number of dogs is 30 per day.

We’re open Monday to Friday. We’ll collect your dog from your home, garden or workplace between 7.30am - 9.30am and return them between 2.30pm – 4.30pm. If you're going to be away when we come to collect or drop your dog off, we can easily make access arrangements.

Our utes are custom fitted with covered farm dog crates so your dog can take in the view while we pick up their buddies and drive through the countryside.

Sorry but you're not unable to drop off and pick up your dog from our farm. It's on a small country road and we need to minimise traffic as part of our consent.

Getting amongst it

We operate in all kinds of weather. so you might want to invest in a dog jacket if your dog has a thin coat or fur that stays wet once it gets wet.

Coats that cover the chest and under the tummy, are lightweight, and most importantly are comfortable to run in are perfect. It's more about keeping the rain off than keeping your dog warm - there will be plenty of running to keep them warm.

We'll clean your dog in our dog wash-house and towel dry them before they come home after their adventure.

For the safety of your dogs and our staff we may call a day off or pack up a little earlier if lightening or localised flooding is forecast. Otherwise we get stuck in and happily smash about in whatever Mother Nature throws at us.

Pricing and payment

It costs $64.50 per day. (Please note : From 1 August 2024 our daily charge will increase to $66.70 so we can continue to pay our wonderful team the Living Wage).

This includes our complimentary pick up and drop home service, our low dog to staff ratio of 12 : 1 with a passionate experienced dog handler, and top notch support from our dedicated admin team.

As standard we offer a 5% discount for dogs attending 3+ days per week.

Monthly worming treatments are additional and vary based on the size of your dog - they cost between $4 - $12 per dog depending on their size and if they need regular or sensitive tummy tablets.

Invoices are sent monthly on the last day of the month. Our terms of payment are payment in full within 7 days of our invoice. All collection costs are recoverable. Any accounts sent for debt collection incur these fees: 30% of the principal amount owing, plus a debt loading fee of $75. Fees charged by the collection agency will be additional.

Cancellations

Please let us know if you are going away or your dog is unable to attend. We have a waitlist of casual dogs that would love to have the odd day with us.

Cancellations must be made by email or text message to our office no less than 48 hours before your booking. Our office is open 7.30am - 5pm Monday - Friday.  You cannot cancel via our staff.  As we are closed during the weekend, any cancellations for Monday must be made by 4pm Friday.

Failure to advise us of your cancellation within our timeframes will result in a full day charge being applied to your invoice.

Late cancellations may be accepted in exceptional or emergency situations. Please advise us by text message as we will not see your email if we are closed.

We operate whatever the weather and do not accept cancellations due to weather conditions. A full day charge will be applied if you choose not to send your dog.

Breed and behaviour

We don't take Pitbulls, Mastiffs, Staffies, Rottweilers, Bull Terriers, Dogue De Bordeaux, Ridgebacks, Shar Pei, Dobermans, German Shepherds. Please don't be offended - from our years of experience we find that these breeds just don't work in a busy, enclosed space with lots of other dogs.

Aggressive or dominant dogs are unfortunately not suited to Boom Rock Dogs. Due to noise restrictions, dogs who bark persistently may not be able to attend.

Your dog will need to be social (they will be sharing a cage in the dog van), and have basic obedience skills such as sit and come.

We take a range of sizes from Huskies down to small breeds such as terriers and Jack Russell's and encourage (and expect) them all to mix with safe, social play.

We have limited availability for large dogs over 35kgs.

Health

Male dogs aged over 8 months must be neutered, and un-speyed females kept at home while on heat.

All dogs must be vaccinated for Parvo, Distemper, Hepatitis and Kennel Cough. If your dog is receiving a long term vaccination such as DHP, please note you will still need an annual booster shot for Kennel Cough. Your dog should also be flea-treated regularly, and should ideally be registered with your local council.

Worm Treatments - administered monthly onsite

Because we operate in a rural area we have some special requirements around the worming of all the dogs that come to Boom Rock Dogs Farm. Dogs can carry a tapeworm that can infect sheep causing them to produce unsaleable inferior meat and resulting in the stock needing to be destroyed. This can be devastating for rural communities.

Your dog will need to be wormed by us 48 hours before coming to Boom Rock Dogs Farm for the first time. We'll get worming tablets to you before your dog starts. This requirement doesn't apply to our other daycare sites.

Please take a minute to read about our on-farm worming and what it means for your dog:

To book a day out on The Farm for your dog .....

It's really simple. Just give us a call, send us a text or email an enquiry. We'll chat about your dogs requirements and get your booking sorted.

You can book regular days each week, or casually as required (dependant on availability). We have a waitlist, so if you are flexible with the day of the week that your dog can attend we may be able to find you a spot sooner.

Remember, you'll need to allow 48 hours before your dogs first visit to Boom Rock Dogs Farm so we can worm treat them before they start (this requirement doesn't apply to our other daycare sites).

Please let us know your dogs name, breed & age, plus your suburb and preferred days when you get in touch.
